A concert of Franz Schubert's last songs in aid of DARA (Deal Area Refugee Action) and in celebration of Deal being awarded Sanctuary status.

Franz Schubert is one of the greatest composers of classical songs of all time and composed his last 14 songs, that make up the collection Schwanengesang, in 1828. These songs were published in 1829, after Schubert's death that year.

The last songs rang from the pain of absent love, of the closeness of death when apart from one's loved ones, of having no friends and home, the trauma of loss, to some notable love songs.

DARA welcomes refugees and exists to provide aid, such as raising money for local refugee charities, organising events and raising awareness in the local community to the plight of those seeking sanctuary.

Deal Town Council was awarded Town of Sanctuary status - welcoming people seeking sanctuary - in September this year.

Tickets £12 from enquiries@dara2.org.uk

Or available through Eventbrite - Schwanengesang - Swan Songs.

There will be some tickets on the door but the Council Chamber is limited to 70 people so it may be safer to buy tickets in advance.
