Sitting in the shadow of Dover Castle and beside the remains of a Norman church, is the historic White Horse Inn, a Grade 2 listed building dating back to 1365.
The White Horse is an Pub. Area Dover
Originally home of the verger to St James Church, the remains of which are next door, this popular pub is said to have taken its first recorded steps as an 'ale tasting house' in 1574 and became known as 'The White Horse Inn' from 1818.
These days, the White Horse is a hive of activity with an eclectic mix of tourists, channel swimmers and locals enjoying traditional, home-cooked food and sampling premium drinks in a cosy, friendly environment. There's a small, suntrap terrace to the rear of the pub.
Consistently awarded high marks on review sites, popular remarks pertain to the friendliness of the staff and quality of the atmosphere.
NB The pub changed hands in May 2024, so please check with the pub directly for up-to-date opening times, about their food offer and other details.
