Local photographers showcase

We are extremely fortunate to have some outstanding photographers in White Cliffs Country capturing the beauty of the area whose work appears throughout this website. Find out more about the people behind the lens...

Ben Payne

Originally from Leicestershire, a few years ago Ben decided to up roots and follow his dream of moving to the coast. He found himself settling in Dover with his partner and two children, working at sea on pilot boats and as a skipper for Dover Sea Safari running tours along the White Cliffs.

Ben has always had a keen interest in photography and decided to take it up as a hobby a few years ago when he bought his first drone. He soon found his niche in coastal photos from the air, but also now uses a digital camera for many of his coastal seascapes. He says photography is a great way to enjoy exploring and capturing our beautiful coastline and nature in all its glory, especially at sunrise or sunset. You can see more of Ben's work by following his adventures on Instagram @coastwithben.

Colin Menniss

Colin is a passionate landscape photographer hailing from the serene Kent countryside with a heart that beats to the rhythm of nature's beauty. He loves capturing the raw majesty of seascapes, sunrises and the mesmerizing night sky through astrophotography, seeking to freeze fleeting moments in time. Colin's lens transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary, inviting viewers to see the world through his artistic vision.

He returned to landscape photography during the pandemic, setting himself the challenge to rediscover the Garden of England through the lens of his camera and quickly became fixated with seascapes and astrophotography. He says there is nothing more therapeutic than watching a sunrise over the sea or gazing at the majesty of the milky way. Landscape photography is seasonal, so whether chasing bioluminescence in spring, the milky way in summer or frost in the colder months, he always has a goal. Challenging himself is at the heart of his photography.

John is originally from Sandhurst in Kent but moved to Deal with his wife in 2019. His day job is as a shift leader at Tesco in Deal on Mill Hill but he has always enjoyed taking photographs. He soon realised he had a passion for photography and since moving to Deal and seeing such beautiful surroundings and the different views of nature and weather it has inspired him to devote more time to his photography. He prefers to capture landscape around Deal and the surrounding areas as they provide beautiful scenery throughout every season. John says that Deal has a strong friendly community which he enjoys being part of.

Omri Moxey

What started out as a hobby has become a passion for Omri, the person behind Moxey's Photography. It all began when he was given his grandad's Nikon F mechanical camera and began taking photos. This sparked an interest in photography and he went on to buy his first DSLR camera, the Nikon D5600. Omri started taking simple photos in black and white and experimenting with different angles. His photography continued to grow and expanded to include all aspects of photography, whether that be colour, black and white, street, wildlife and sunsets.

Chris Mansfield

Chris moved to Deal from Bexleyheath four years ago after a career as a photographer and freelance snapper for Greenwich Council and a couple of local newspapers. After being welcomed by Deal, he decided he would like to occupy his retirement by doing his bit for the community and offering to photograph local charity or community events free of charge. His website shows photos from dozens of events over the past few years and he hopes that one day his pictures will go to the local history museum for the enjoyment of future generations. Chris generously offers his pictures freely to anyone who wants to use them.
