Kent MOMI is a not-for-profit museum that explores the deep history of the moving image from the days of candle-lit magic lantern performances and hand-painted slides, through Victorian visual experimentation, to the advent and heyday of the cinema.
With regularly changing special exhibitions there will always be something new to see. Every exhibition is accompanied by a printed guide and QR codes you can scan for an audio tour using your own phone. Digital displays and hands-on material help to bring the exhibits to life.
There's a cafe serving hot and cold drinks, including Kentish and other fine wines and beers, and light refreshments and a museum shop selling a range of cards, gifts, books and DVDs.
The museum also hosts a regular series of evening film showings, covering a wide range of genres from well-loved classics to lesser-known gems.
