The final talk before their Christmas break, on Thursday 14th November, is entitled 'Reawakening the Maison Dieu'.
The Maison Dieu started as a place for poor pilgrims to stay for the night, then becoming a victualling yard that made ship's biscuits and beer for the Royal Navy and, since the late 1830's has served as Dover's Town Hall.
The speaker, Martin Crowther, oversees the Maison Dieu's public outreach and has wide experience in Kent's heritage including Canterbury Cathedral.
As usual, the lecture takes place in the Sandwich Guildhall Jury Room from 7.00 for a 7.30 start.
Non-members are most welcome for just £2 on the door.
