White Cliffs Country – Deal, Dover and Sandwich - and home to Kent’s Golf Coast - has been recognized as one of the best places in England to enjoy playing golf. All three of the links golf courses in this unique staycation destination have been ranked in the top 30 in England, by Golf World’s Top 100 rankings and featured in Today’s Golfer magazine - with Royal St George's Golf Club taking the top spot.
Royal St George’s championship links course in Sandwich, Number 1 links golf course in England according to Golf World's Top 100 ranking, is proudly preparing to host The 149th Open for the 15th time in July 2021, as golf fever builds across the world ahead of the event. It was the first club to host the tournament outside Scotland, in 1894.
Prince’s Golf Club in Sandwich, which has leaped up 25 places to number 29 in the rankings, is also in Sandwich - a classic 27-hole championship links course that offers 38 en suite bedrooms and a restaurant boasting two AA rosettes in The Lodge, which overlooks the course and Sandwich Bay.
Located outside Deal, Kent, Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club also features in the top 30. Said to be one of the finest links golf courses in the British Isles, the playing surface, which is firm and undulating, challenges players' skills with steep bunkers and, naturally, a sea breeze.
With breath-taking views across the English Channel, Walmer & Kingsdown Golf Club, also known as The Club On The Cliffs, offers challenging golf to all ages and all abilities. It is one of only a few courses in the world where golfers can see another country while enjoying a round.
